Urban Outfitters Streaming Best Coast - 'Crazy For You'

The lame-ass store Urban Outfitters got a hold of the Best Coast album 'Crazy For You' early (who hasn't?) They will be streaming it at their store until the album comes out. You can read a cool little interview with Beth over at their website. 'Crazy For You' has album of the year potential. An instant classic, a must have for everyone. It's filled with 1950's pop songs about weed, love, and chillin. It pairs really well with another album, 'King of The Beach' by her partner in crime, Wavves...they put you in a summer mood and you never want to come back from it. 'Crazy For You' will be out on pretty blue vinyl July 26...of course I pre-ordered it the second it came out! You should buy it.

Girls - Lysandre

Girls are still riding the wave of one of 2009's best albums. 'Album' was the first record I ever bought on vinyl. Here they are with the debut of a new song in Vancoover at the tail end of May. Looks like Chris chopped off his long hair!

Best Coast Debut Full Length

Finally! Beth and Bob are releasing their first full length after many many 7''s. 'Crazy for You', is due out July 27 on Mexican Summer. The 29-minute LP was recorded by Cosentino and musical partner Bobb Bruno in L.A. with Lewis Pesacov of Fool's Gold and Foreign Born producing. I am so excited to hear this. I caught a show and chilled with Beth for a little bit when she came through CT a few months ago, they are really cool. I am hoping the album sounds a lot like the first single 'Our Deal'. Beths voice really shines through on that track. It's not the fuzzy reverb drenched pop tunes we are used to hearing. Sounds very Beach Boys. Check out the track list below. Needless to say, I can not wait to hold this vinyl in my hand. The album cover is priceless...I love Snacks!
Crazy for You:
01 Boyfriend
02 Crazy for You
03 The End
04 Goodbye
05 Summer Mood
06 Our Deal
07 I Want To
08 When the Sun Don't Shine
09 Bratty B
10 Honey
11 Happy
12 Each and Everyday
Bonus Track: "When I'm With You"

Sorry I havn't been blogging that much. Just finished my two week dmb bender, and I am flat out tired. I did get around to 3 posts today. But it's summer and I am not spending my free time inside with my laptop on my lap. It's good to take a break from the internet and then come back all refreshed. However, I have been out of the music loop for the past two weeks and have not listenend to a lot of new material. But that's okay, looking forward to spending some more time with mother nature...I'll still be updating the blog, it just may not have a post every day. Cheers!

New Best Coast Tracks

Yes, this is another re-post...but Best Coast is very busy right now releasing new material.  They have a new 7'' single which you can get with buying a pair of eskuche headphones. You can also stream the 7'' which includes new songs 'Far Away' and 'Everyone's Gone' at the website. You can download 'Far Away' below. It's another pop gem...fuzzy, poppy, beachy, sad, everything we have come to love from Beth.
Best Coast - Far Away by berman1125

The song comes from Bethany aka Best Coast. It's featured in a web series as a prequel to an xbox game? Okay, sure! The song is beautiful. It's more country She & Him then fuzzy Best Coast. You can really hear Beth's voice shine through. She also does the oo'as and ahh's in the back. The song 'Our Deal' is again, about a boy and being confused about said boy. It's all wrapped up in that summer cali goodness that we love :) The song will be on the full length album due out later this year. Il post a download when I find it...until then you can stream it.

Best Coast Takes Over Wesleyan

I received word that Best Coast would be stopping by Wesleyan for a Thursday night gig (thanks pat). No one could go with me, so I decided to introduce Pete into the indie scene. Showed up around 11 and Wesleyans' own Apache Kid was rocking out to end their set. They were tight. Combined with guitars and synths, their lead singer was shouting and jumping around to moshing hipsters. This gave me ample time to say hi to Bethany Bob and Ali, also to grab the last remaining 7''.

Best Coast are chill people. Beth swayed back and fourth to each tune about heartache and never being accepted. Other songs, about chillin and smoking weed. Basically my life wrapped up in a neat little box. My favorite line of the night: 'I hate sleeping alooooone' off their fifth 7'' single. 'When I'm With You'. The live music had a lot less reverb then the recorded material giving Beth a more natural, sweet sounding voice. Her favorites to listen to include The Beach Boys and The Everly Brothers, which you can hear influencing Best Coast's 50's beachy vibe. They put their guitars down for one second before deciding to play a one song encore for the demanding students. After, I chatted with the group and got my vinyl signed. Beth and Ali decided to step outside with us for a smoke...we talked about our cats and what makes a good bowl. Would love to chill with you guys again when you come through CT.

It was too dark at Eclectic to take pics, and I'm sure there was no video taken. These three videos are from the night before at Mercury Lounge in NY.
I also left my ID at Eclectic, so if anyone reads this and can help me out in finding that...pleaseeee email me, berman1125@hotmail.com
